Scotts Valley Fire Protection District

Four Scotts Valley Fire District engines lined up

The Scotts Valley Fire District, established in 1958, is dedicated to providing fire and emergency services to the City and community of Scotts Valley, Branciforte, and adjacent unincorporated areas of Santa Cruz County. The district operates two full-time stations with 7 pieces of apparatus, serving nearly 24,000 residents within its 32 square mile boundaries. With a team of 28 full-time employees, one part-time employee, and 11 paid-call firefighters, the district offers an array of essential services including fire suppression, emergency medical services, administration, technical rescue, hazardous materials mitigation, public education, fire investigation, and fire prevention.

Daily emergency response is efficiently managed by 8 firefighters and one Battalion Chief. Furthermore, the Scotts Valley Fire District has established Mutual Aid Agreements with neighboring fire suppression organizations, fortifying the emergency services available to the community.

The administrative office, located at 7 Erba Ln. in Scotts Valley, is operational Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 4 pm, and on Friday from 8 am to 12:00 pm, excluding holidays. The Fire District is governed by a board of 5 directors, each elected to 4-year terms. Registered voters within the District elect fellow constituent candidates to four-year terms. As an autonomous special district, the District relies solely on funding from property taxes and does not receive any funding from the City of Scotts Valley.
